Common signs of a fake delivery text

You were not expecting a parcel, or the message gives no order number you can match independently.
It demands a small redelivery, customs, or address-confirmation payment immediately.
It uses urgency such as “final notice,” “today only,” or a threat that your parcel will be returned.
The link uses an unfamiliar domain, a misspelling, or a courier name combined with unrelated words.
The sender asks for card details, account credentials, or a code before it will release the package.

How to check a delivery notification safely

Do not tap the message link or reply to the sender.
Open the courier’s official app or type its known website address into your browser yourself.
Enter a tracking number only on that official site, or contact the seller using an order confirmation you already have.
Compare the notice with the delivery details in your original order. If anything conflicts, treat it as suspicious.

Fictional example“Parcel service: Your package is waiting. Pay a 1.50 redelivery fee at parcel-update.example within two hours or it will be returned.” The domain is fictional, and a small fee plus a deadline is a reason to verify through the courier’s official app instead of the message link.

Close the page without entering anything. If it downloaded a file, do not open it. Review the message and the address shown in the browser, then use the courier’s official website or app to check whether there is a real delivery issue. If you entered details or paid

Contact your card issuer or payment provider promptly through a trusted number or app, explain what happened, and ask what protective steps are available.
